Want to play golf today in Greenacres, FL? Your fastest path is a two-step: check an online tee sheet for live openings, then call the golf shop to confirm and lock the slot. In Palm Beach County, same-day play is realistic — especially in the summer off-season — but it's never guaranteed, so a quick phone call beats a hopeful drive-over every time.
What does "same-day tee time" actually mean in Greenacres?
Same-day tee time means a confirmed booking for a round later that same day — different from a walk-on, where you show up without a reservation and hope the starter can fit you in. Walk-ons may be paired into an existing group, sent to the range to wait, or turned away if the sheet is full. Confirmed beats hopeful.
In the Greenacres area, both paths exist, and both are course-by-course. Policies are set at the individual course level, not by a city or county rule, so what works at one spot may not work at the next.
How do you actually book a same-day round near Greenacres?
The mechanics are simple: pull up a live tee sheet online, grab an open slot, then call the golf shop to confirm pace, cart availability, and any walk-up specifics. At Palm Beach National Golf & Country Club — the 18-hole Joe Lee–designed course at 7500 Saint Andrews Road — tee times can be booked online, and the golf shop line is (561) 965-3381.
Here's the under-the-hood order of operations most Greenacres golfers follow:
- Check the online tee sheet first. Live availability tells you what's actually open in the next few hours — not what might be open.
- Call the shop to confirm. Online slots can lag by a few minutes. A call verifies the slot is still live and tells you if a league, outing, or senior group is on the course.
- Ask about pairing. If you're a single or a twosome, the shop will often pair you with another group to open earlier windows.
- Confirm cart, range, and pace. Cart inclusion, range balls, and expected round time all affect whether the slot works for your afternoon.
Palm Beach National runs its course from sunrise to 11 PM daily, which gives same-day golfers a long booking window — including twilight slots that often open up on short notice.
When is same-day play easiest in Palm Beach County?
Same-day and walk-on play is meaningfully easier in the summer off-season (May through October), when tee sheets loosen and rates sit at the lower end of the county range. Winter peak (December through April) brings seasonal residents and visitors, tee sheets tighten, and prices climb. If you're trying to play today in July, you have options. In February, you're competing with a lot of other golfers.
South Florida weather is the other variable. The afternoon thunderstorm pattern from June through September can wipe out a tee time you booked at breakfast, so early morning tee times carry the least weather risk. Summer heat and humidity also make midday rounds a tougher sell — another reason same-day availability tends to open up for afternoon slots once the sun gets high.
What should you expect to pay for a same-day round?
Prices vary by course, time of day, resident status, and whether a cart is included — all of which change the number you'll see when you call. For planning purposes, countywide Palm Beach County benchmarks for a public 18-hole round with cart look like this:
| Season | Months | Typical range (18 holes, cart) |
|---|---|---|
| Winter peak | December–April | $40–$80 |
| Summer off-season | May–October | $30–$60 |
Those ranges are countywide benchmarks, not quotes for any specific Greenacres course. Some Florida public facilities also tack on a small water-conservation or environmental surcharge in the $3–$6 range, though that's not confirmed at every course. Always confirm the number with the golf shop before you drive over — Palm Beach National's shop line is listed above for live pricing.
What makes the Greenacres market different for last-minute golfers?
Greenacres sits inside one of the densest public golf markets in Florida. That cuts both ways: a lot of courses means a lot of potential tee times on any given afternoon, but it also means local golfers are experienced same-day shoppers, so the best slots at the best rates go quickly in peak season.
Palm Beach National's course was designed by Joe Lee and features TifEagle greens — a Bermuda strain that's standard for South Florida because it handles the heat and humidity that would stress a cool-season grass. The club also runs an Inrange-powered driving range if you want to loosen up before your round, and Smashers, the on-site bar and grill, is open daily from 6 AM to 11 PM. The club describes itself as a course with no strict dress codes, no hushed tones, and no pressure to be perfect — a useful tone for a walk-on golfer who just wants to play.
Here's a recent four-star review that captures what a same-day visit can look like:
First time playing this course and the overall impression was a good one. This course has TONS of potential, and when I mean TONS, it is untapped. The clubhouse appears to be brand new and every person I encountered, from the check-in crew, to the drink staff, to the bag drop personnel was very professional and eager to help. I came straight from the airport and the young man who was working that morning even helped walk my bags and golf carrier to the storage area and ensured it was in a safe space, I cannot say enough how premium his customer service was and he is a true asset to their team. The course itself is well maintained, has a great layout, and is eager and willing to allow for tons of birdies if you can keep the ball in play off of the tee. The amount of water on this course is a nice touch and it makes you work the ball in a variety of different directions. The fairways are firm, but fair, and the greens roll at a predictable pace and are easy to read (even for florida greens). Word of advice for anyone playing here, be below the hole, it will save you tons of left to right downhill putts that are very easily 3 putted if speed control is off just one bit. Here's the reason its a 4 star and not a 5. I had a 10:54 tee time and did not approach the first tee box until roughly 11:10. I was paired with 3 other people I did not know (1.2 handicap but no complaints there, I'm used to this as I frequently play as a single in areas like this), but these people appeared to be 15 handicappers at best and one of the individuals was probably beginner level on a good day. We teed off 16 minutes behind pace, not a big deal, but the 16 minute delay was caused by overbooking and by allowing the senior league to jump in front of people under the guise that they would be quick and only playing 3 holes, which was correct. However, our four some was sandwiched between a 5 some of younger men and another 4 some of younger men. We proceeded to play the next 2 holes waiting to hit our approach shots or layups because of the hold up in front of us. We continue to wait on additional holes and then all of a sudden the group in front of us starts to speed up and immediately we are approached by the ranger, not once, but twice, who ordered us to speed up play under threat of having to skip holes. I explained that the course was backed up because of the senior league and just now opened up because they finished their "3 holes". I also explained to him the hypocrisy of asking us to speed up play when we were pushed back from our original tee times because of their overbooking and negligence from a management perspective. We were left alone after this conversation and proceed to follow his orders and speed up play.We get to the backside after playing the front in a little less than 3 hours (remember we were waiting to hit approach shots on half of our holes on the front 9, ridiculous I know) and proceed to have to wait on EVERY SINGLE SHOT on the back 9. So much for the reasoning behind speeding up play. Our back nine took over 3.5 hours because of the log jam they created by overbooking and a lack of operational oversight. However, this was an overall enjoyable experience for my first time at the golf course and it would not deter me from playing the course again. However, the ranger that was working the front 9 on 3/22 needs to be addressed or that course will be hard pressed to become a destination spot for avid golfing tourists and will have to rely on their top golf atmosphere to drive business.— Alex, 4★, Mar 2026
What if nothing's open at your first choice?
Widen your radius. Greenacres is embedded in a dense Palm Beach County golf market, and same-day seekers who are flexible on geography almost always find something. If you're a single, ask to be paired — pairing slots open earlier windows that aren't visible on the public tee sheet. If you're a group of four and it's a Saturday morning in February, consider pushing to a twilight slot the same day rather than fighting for a morning window.
Not a same-day round, but worth knowing if your Sunday plans flex.
Frequently asked questions
Can I just walk on without calling first?
You can, but it's a gamble. Walk-on policies are set course by course in Palm Beach County, and a full tee sheet means you'll be paired into an existing group, asked to wait, or turned away. A two-minute phone call to the golf shop before you leave the house tells you exactly what's open and saves a wasted drive if the course is full.
How late can I book a tee time for today?
At Palm Beach National, the course is open from sunrise to 11 PM daily, so same-day booking windows run deep into the afternoon and evening. Twilight slots in particular often open up on short notice. Call the golf shop at (561) 965-3381 to confirm what's live, since the last practical tee time depends on daylight and pace of play that day.
Is same-day golf cheaper than booking in advance?
Not reliably. Twilight slots are often the cheapest same-day option. Confirm the exact rate with the course before you drive over, since pricing varies by time of day and cart inclusion.
Do I need a tee time to use the driving range?
Range access is usually separate from a tee time booking. Palm Beach National operates an Inrange-powered driving range that lets golfers track distances and challenge friends, and it's a solid same-day option if the course is full or weather is iffy. Call the golf shop to confirm range hours and any walk-up requirements before you head over.
What's the best time of year for same-day tee times in Greenacres?
May through October — the summer off-season — is the easiest window for same-day and walk-on play in Palm Beach County. Tee sheets loosen, rates sit at the lower end of the county range, and more slots stay open day-of. The tradeoff is heat, humidity, and the afternoon thunderstorm pattern, which is why early morning tee times are the smart same-day pick in summer.
Do I need a permit or license to play public golf in Florida?
No. There's no Florida-specific or Greenacres-specific license or permit required for a golfer to book or play a public round. Walk-on and same-day booking policies are set at the individual course level, not by city or county ordinance, so the only thing you need to verify is the course's own policy — which the golf shop can confirm by phone.
